Half-Price Christmas Parking for Dublin City!
From 1st December to 8th January (inclusive) any motorist who parks on-street in a paid parking place and pays using Parking Tag will be charged half the normal tariff (for example, in the very high demand yellow zone the tariff will be €1.45 per hour instead of the standard tariff of €2.90 per hour). The 50% discount will apply anywhere in the City.
Parking Tag is Dublin City Council’s cash-free system for paying for on-street parking in Dublin City. The Tag is a bar-coded sticker which is affixed to the front windscreen of the user’s vehicle. The Tag is linked to the vehicle registration number and the motorist’s mobile phone. The motorist simply parks in any paid parking space in the city and makes the transaction by a short phone call (local call) or by sending a text message. It’s that easy!
The parking session can be extended (up to the maximum time permitted – normally three hours) by making a further phone call or sending another text message. There is also the option of a text reminder ten minutes before the end of the parking session. There is no need for users to interact with the parking ticket machines. No more fumbling for change, running to and from the meter in the rain or rushing back to get another ticket! The cost of each transaction is deducted from the motorist’s credit/debit card account. Parking Tag transactions are recorded by the City Council’s parking enforcement contractor whose staff are in a position to instantly ascertain whether a vehicle displaying a Tag is parked legally or not by scanning the Tag with the Handheld.
In the two years since its launch, Parking Tag has become the simple, secure, convenient, hassle-free alternative way to park in the City. Its success has far exceeded all expectations and the Council is confident that it will continue to grow in popularity. It’s the ideal way to pay for parking when visiting the city centre for business, to shop or for leisure.
Full information on the system is available at www.parkingtag.ie or by phoning the call centre at 0818 300 161.
