FAQs

1. What is Transport 21?

Answer: Transport 21 is an infrastructural plan which was announced on 1st Nov 2005 by the then Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen. The plan includes continuing investment in Ireland's road network, along with investment in public transport in the form of buses and rail. A significant portion of this investment will focus on the creation of an integrated rail network in Dublin, Dart Underground which will link Inchicore to Stephens Green via Heuston station & Christchurch, heading onto Pearse & Docklands . Projects include a tunnel under Dublin city centre connecting Heuston Station with Pearse and Docklands. Also included are several new Luas lines, a Metro system, and tighter integration between all rail systems, particularly at the planned St. Stephens Green interchange. Also included in the plan is the significant expansion of the Dublin Bus passenger-carrying capacity.
